The progress of the Joint Maritime Information and Coordination Centre (JMICC) in Puntland was presented on 9 May 2017 in Garowe by the project team supported by EUCAP Somalia : purpose, provisional vision and mission statement of the future JMICC, as well as demonstration of maritime situational awareness tools.
Vice President of Puntland State of Somalia, Abdihakim Abdullahi Hajji Omar, introduced this meeting held on the EU Day (9 May).
Background EUCAP Somalia is a civilian EU mission, under the auspices of the Common Security and Defence Policy, which assists Somalia in strengthening its capacity to ensure maritime security.
