Maritime Safety and Workshops

Thematic Workshops

CRIMARIO conducts thematic interagency workshops, in collaboration with international organisations and other EU-funded initiatives. These workshops address complex maritime security and safety challenges that require a coordinated, cross-agency response, involving both policy-makers and practitioners.

The workshops are strategically timed to run alongside CRIMARIO’s national or regional maritime exercises. This alignment enables real-time feedback between policy and operational levels, ensuring that lessons learned on the ground inform strategic discussions—and vice versa.

Each workshop is tailored to national or regional priorities and focuses on topics such as:

  • Counter-narcotics
  • Legal practice and legal finish
  • Maritime safety (Search and Rescue, MARPOL compliance)
  • Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR)
  • Shipping industry standards and operations
  • Port safety and security
  • Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing
  • Protection of critical maritime infrastructure

This activity is a priority within the CRIMARIO framework, as it reinforces the link between policy and practice and promotes a sustainable interagency approach to maritime governance and regional stability.
